Arthur Hamill Obituary
Arthur “Artie” M. Hamill, 86, passed away on July 29, 2022 after a short illness.
Born on September 19, 1935, he married Anne Marie Evans in 1954 and for 68 years together, they lived a life in Massapequa, New York, raising three children Debi Hamill Corbett (Michael Corbett), John Hamill (Alyssa Whitehouse Hamill), and the late Scott Hamill (Colin Grady).
He was a proud and caring grandfather to Amanda Corbett Safdar, Dana Corbett Marsella, Chelsea Corbett, and Diana Hamill; dear brother to Kathy Hamill Dunn, Mike Hamill, John Hamill, and Jane Hamill McNally, a loving Uncle to many beloved nieces and nephews.
Artie worked as a lineman for the Long Island Lighting Company, and if you asked him to tell you about those days, you better pull up a chair!
After his retirement, you could often find him at Peninsula Golf Course parking golf carts, which led him to refer to himself as a “cartiologist”, which is just one of his famous “Artieisms” that’s suitable for print.
He was an avid boater, having spent many days sailing on the “Queen Ann”. He also loved to sing and was known to burst into song, usually “Danny Boy” or an Irish tune harkening back to his roots. He loved Disney World, but he was happiest when he was with his family (bonus points for singing with family, at Disney World).
In spite of recent medical issues, he always had a smile on his face. Never at a loss for words or wit or without a story to share, Artie not only lit up the room, but he took it over. He was loved and adored by all who knew him.
He will be forever missed.
