He was predeceased by: his parents, John F. Johnston and Clara A. Huber. He is survived by: his brother Reverend Donald J. Johnston; his wife Estelle Louise Amy of Larchmont; his brother Father Donald J. Johnston of Rye; his brother-in-law Thomas Amy (Carol); and also, William R. Johnston Jr. (Meg), Amy J. Bridges, Catherine J. Goetz (Lionel), Donald J. Johnston II (Maryellen) and Gregory L. Johnston (Erin). He is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Coxe & Graziano Funeral Home (767 E Boston Post Rd, Mamaroneck, NY 10543). A funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Augustine's Church (18 Cherry Ave, Larchmont, NY 10538).
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions to the Michael J. Fox Foundation in memory of William R. Johnston. For the last few years, he has been a participant in the MJFF Parkinson's Progression Markers Initiative study.
