He was predeceased by: his parents, Augusto Salgado Fernandes and Alice Conceicao Fernandes; his siblings, Fernando Augusto of Conceicao Fernandes and Maria Isabel of Conceicao Fernandes; and his close friend Peanut.

He is survived by: his wife Georgete; his children, Victor Fernandes (Michelle) and Ann Fernandes; his grandsons, Zachary Fernandes, Anthony Helias and Nicholas Helias; and his siblings, Rui Alberto Fernandes and Victoria Sobral (Joaquim).
