He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Gerow and Reba Gerow (Marr); and his brothers, Donald, Frederick and Theodore (Burke).
He is survived by: his friend Diner; his significant other Patricia Ann Gerow (Rue); his brother Robert Gerow (Terri) of Schenectady; his cousin Eileen Wolcott of New Hartford; his children, Deborah McEwen of New Hartford, James Gerow Jr. of Amsterdam, Michael Gerow (Barbara) of Sherrill, Angela Caraher (Joel) of Delanson, Bonny Gerow (Gary Taylor) of Williamstown and Jaime Frost (Michael) of Cumming, Georgia.; and his grandchildren, Darlene Hall, Phillip Howard (Kristina), Jill Tuten, Megan Donato (Daniel), Elizabeth Davis (Phillip), Carolyn Thieme (Trevor), Kyle Caraher, Bryce Caraher (Alicia), Clayre Caraher, Ryan Bean (Katelynne), Shannon Kayser (Joel) and Tyler Bean (Abigail Windhausen). He is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and his faithful companion.
