He was predeceased by: his parents, Abraham Huurman and Marjorie Huurman; his brother William Huurman; and his parents-in-law, Norman and Alberta Soucy.

He is survived by: his daughter Ashley Helfer (Paul); his grandchildren, Mason and Beckham Helfer; and his siblings, John Huurman (Susan) and Susan Adams (Dave). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and close friends.
