He was predeceased by: his parents, Lucius VanAlstine and Leila VanAlstine (Earl); his son Dale Robert; his sister Beverly VanAlstine Gaffney; and his brothers-in-law, Barney Gaffney and Jack Denny.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Rice; his children, Deborah VanAlstine (Cory Morrison), Rochelle Nunes (Wayne) and James VanAlstine (Kristin); his daughter-in-law Thelma VanAlstine; and his sister June VanAlstine Denny. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews.
