Gloria Ruby Smith Obituary
Lyons Falls - Gloria Ruby Smith, 85, of Cherry Street passed away Thursday, November 18, 2021 due to pneumonia and organ failure.
Gloria was born on October 11, 1936 and raised in Port Leyden, NY by Milldred and Preston Vollmar, as one of five children.
She spent many years working in the Finishing Department of Ethan Allen in Boonville, NY. Her interests included writing poetry, reading, taking walks, and visiting with others. Above all else, Gloria loved the Lord. Her favorite hymn was, How Great Thou Art, and she displayed her love for others through her generosity, humility, and kindness.
Gloria is survived by her sisters, Thelma Benware and Sandra Aldi; children, Mary Lou Peck and husband Patrick, Thomas LaLonde and wife Cheryl, and Robert Denslow and wife Sandi. In addition, many nieces and nephews that loved her. Gloria was a very special lady and was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all.
Her wishes are to be cremated and ashes buried in the Port Leyden Cemetery next to her beloved son Scott B. Smith, who predeceased her. Per her wishes there will be no public funeral services.
