He was predeceased by: his brother Lon Sauter; and his parents, Floyd Sauter and Vivian Hall Sauter. He is survived by: his wife Darlene J. Widrick; his children, Scott (Jennifer Sauter), Sarah (Matthew Klosner) and Shari (Jeffrey Silino); his grandchildren, Ella and Aubree Sauter; his brothers, Loren (Candy Sauter) and David (Michelle Sauter); and his sister-in-law Marge Sauter of The Villages, FL.. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
