He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Levi and Marion Jane Simmons (LaLone); his wife G. Patricia Mae Barney; his daughter Rosemerriea Ottey; his daughter-in-law Lynn Simmons; and his siblings, Sycroni, Frank, Stanley, Robert Simmons, Edna Knapp and Ethel Allen.
He is survived by: his son Erwin "Joe" Simmons; his grandchildren, Michael Edwards (Chrissie), Natasha Edwards and Antonio Grimm; and his sister Edie Martin. He is also survived by his five great grandchildren.
