He was predeceased by: his granddaughter Madison VanNest; his siblings, Robert VanNest (Ardeth), John VanNest (Katherine), Keith VanNest (Betty), Rachel Szucs (Bill), Mary Burr (Robert) and Joan Skiff (Charles); and his parents, Ferguson John and Anna McDonald VanNest.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley; his children, Jerry VanNest (Pamela Bray) of Rome, Doug (Monica VanNest), Brian (Deana VanNest) and Julie (Dennis Conmay); and his grandchildren, Hailey, Kacey Conmay, Mikayla VanNest, Brennan, Nicholas VanNest, Melissa Scott (Tanner Blair), Jason Scott (Sara), Eric Scott (MacKenzie) and Dylan Eddy. He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
