He was predeceased by: his children, John Hirschey and Sallyann Bender; his sisters, Bonnie Kloster and Kathy Woods; and his sister-in-law Debra Hirschey.

He is survived by: his wife Peggy A. Gardner; his children, Tim Hirschey and Angela Hirschey; his grandchildren, Paige Hirschey, Dawson Mead, Gracie Hirschey, Saydee Hirschey, Kaden Hirschey, Austin Bender and Cole Bender; and his brothers, Bruce Hirschey and Mike (Connie Hirschey). He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
