She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Rita Cullen and James Cullen; her siblings, Helen Montani (West Babylon) and James Cullen (Northport); her daughters, Gail Schreiner (Brooklyn), Lisa Palattella (Port Washington) and Laura Palattella (Port Washington); her sons-in-law, Gary Schreiner and Barry Sherman; and her granddaughters, Erin McGuirl (Brooklyn), Liza Riddick of Milford, CT, Sylvie Sherman of Los Angeles, CA and Phoebe Sherman (Washington, DC).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Doctors Without Borders or The Human Rights Foundation in memory of Joan Palattella.
