We are sad to announce that on October 30, 2023 we had to say goodbye to Elaine Houseknecht of Lodi, New York, born in Geneva, New York. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Alburtus VanRiper and Catharine VanRiper; her granddaughter MacKenzie Zambuto; her great grandchild Matthew Houseknecht; and her siblings, Jerry VanRiper and Diane Moore.

She is survived by: her husband Earl; her children, Penny Hoerner (Frank) of Ellicotville, Terry Houseknecht of Interlaken and Misty Zambuto (Lou) of Phelps; her grandchildren, Shannon Barrios (Edison), Cheyne Hoerner, Bucky, Tyler Houseknecht, Camden and Lexie Zambuto; her great grandchildren, Hailey, Gracie Houseknecht and Gabriel Barrios; and her siblings, LeRoy VanRiper, Loretta Bates, Judie Brown and Sandra Stewart.

“What a special lady... always encouraging others in career advancement. Elaine loved to share pictures of family events or camper travels with Earl. Family life was important to her. She took pride in her years of service with NY State. When it came to getting one over on Elaine with medication distribution or rule breaking, she knew all the tricks. Psychiatric or addiction treatment patients who took her for an easy mark were sadly disappointed. Our loss is Heaven's gain, for sure! - Chris”
