He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Chester Buczkowski and Theresa Buczkowski (Vitone); his wife Karen Buczkowski (Whitmore); his children, Christopher Buczkowski and Andrea Buczkowski (Jennifer DeSaegher); his siblings, James Buczkowski (Barbara), John Buczkowski (Judith), Paul Buczkowski and Anita Tice; and his siblings-in-law, Frances Buczkowski and Daniel Tice. He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews.

“I am heartbroken for us to lose this wonderful man. I have so many good memories of our time at the Art Center. In my home there are several pieces of his artwork and I enjoy them every day. There was often a touch of whimsey and a quality of understanding in his work. In my mind's eye I see our two Joes sitting in those black chairs in the gallery talking and discussing some point of the art world. What a pleasure it was. To Karen and the family, my heartfelt condolences.”
