He was predeceased by: his parents, Deane Sr. Bertelsen and Constance Bertelsen. He is survived by: his children, Shelby Kirkman, Cheyenne Thomas (Ryan), Dakota Kirkman, Kevin Oaks, Richard Bertelsen and Deane Bertelsen, III (Austin); his grandchild Deane Bertelsen, IV; and his girlfriend Bridgette Kirkman.
