He was predeceased by: his mother Anna Bittel (Scharmach); his wife Evelyn A. Bittel; his sons, Richard J. Bittel, Jr., James and John; and his siblings, Margaret "Peg" Bandy, Robert Bittel, Albert Bittel, Jr., Betty Zacholl and William Bittel.
He is survived by: his father Albert Bittel; his children, Nancy Bittel Bassett (Thomas) of Hannibal, NY and Daniel W. Bittel (Kimberly) of Liverpool, NY; his daughter-in-law Lisa Bittel; his grandchildren, Gabrielle, Alexander Bittel, Cassandra Woods (Briana), Simon, Brendan, Noah Blair, Nicholas (Kayley) and Nathan Bittel; and his great grandchildren, Quinn, Tiberius Blair and Emersyn Bittel. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
