He was predeceased by: his parents, Edna Leahy and George Leahy; his sister Betty Murray; and his pet Wanda. He is survived by: his wife Ellen Leahy (Smithers); his daughters, Noreen Szkolnik (Jeff), Cathy Gaynor (Tim) and Amy Roy (Mitch); his grandchildren, Kristin Almasian (Anto), Laura Szkolnik, Hunter Roy, Meghan Gaynor and Jordan Roy; and his brother George Leahy (Alice) of Portland, ME. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
