He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert B. Velie and Laura Velie (Hurlburt). He is survived by: his wife Patricia Morrison; his daughters, Tanya Velie (Tysen) of Cattaraugus and Tricia Velie of Little Valley; his sisters, Judy Miller (Mike) of Bradford, PA, Kathy Kampas (John), Missy Sinks (Kurt) of Allegany and Kim Nickola (Stanley) of Salamanca; and his grandchildren, Winston Lincoln and Harper Lincoln. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
