“Saddened to return from a family wedding in Arizona to see the passing of Mr. Payne. He was a true believer in me as a coach and teacher and was instrumental in who I became today. I continue to coach high school basketball and teach math. Both of these he gave me both opportunties with my first coaching position and mentorship in same as well as with the classroom as a new math teacher at Cathedral. He had faith in me as both a teacher and coach and for that will always be grateful. Thank you.”
