He was predeceased by: his father James Hitsman; his brother Daniel Hitsman; and his grandparents, Francis and Eudora Lottie. He is survived by: his wife Kimberly Ann Allen; his sons, Jason (Amanda Ashley) and Jeremy (Crystal); his grandchildren, Olivia and Ellie Hitsman; and his close friends, Keith and Marlene Shaver of Ogdensburg. He is also survived by one brother and two sisters.
