He was predeceased by: his parents, John Carter and Mary [Kelly] Carter; his son Stephen John Carter; and his siblings, Joseph, John, Robert, Thomas "Babe" Michaels, Mary Burton and Betty Shaffer.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara [Battaglia] Carter; his son Sean R. Carter (Maria); his daughter-in-law Nancy Castillo Carter; his granddaughter Shawna Stevens-John (Adrian); his great grandchildren, Hoya'daiwat, Hogaiyo and Joiise John; and his nieces, Maureen Carter and Mary Elizabeth Burton.
Memorials may be made in his name to Stella Niagara Education Park, St. Jude's Children Hospital, or The Shriners Hospital for Children.
