He was predeceased by: his parents, Murray Shotwell and Marion [Sickler] Shotwell; his daughter Traci A. Rhoney; and his brother Herb. He is survived by: his wife Margaret "Marge" [McQuillan] Shotwell; his children, Lorne Shotwell (Tara), Kim Gnann (Robert) and Lori Jones (Richard); his grandchildren, Jillian Latchford (Christopher), Danielle Snell (Jonathan), Lorne, Tyler, Nicholas Shotwell and Nicol Gnann; his brother Dale Shotwell (Carol); his sister-in-law Patricia Schmitz (Charles Davis); his son-in-law Daniel Rhoney; and his sibling Clesson Shotwell. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made in his name to Shriners Hospital for Children.
