He was predeceased by: his parents, Prem Shanker and Rang Rani Shanker; and his sibling Rejesjwari Sahai. He is survived by: his wife Bimla Shankar of Latham; his children, Ajai Shankar (Rachna) of Latham and Ritu Mathur (Rajeev) of Syosset, NY.; his siblings, Swaroop Rani Mathur, Viney Shanker and Gopal Shanker; and his grandchildren, Kavi Shankar, Rishi Shankar, Meena Mathur and Jyoti Mathur. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
