He was predeceased by: his parents, James Harley and Margaret Harley (Hildebrandt); his wife Diane Harley; his grandfather Edward; and his friend Barry G. Manning.

He is survived by: his sons, James V. Harley III, Jason Kentzel (Dana), Jeffrey Harley and Evan Harley (Mary Elizabeth); and his grandchildren, James IV, Zackery, Joseph, Paul and Julia.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jim's name to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave, Menands, NY 12204.

“We met Jim when his wife Diane was a customer of our daughter Rachel at our Hair shop. We became friends and spent time going to dinner on several occasions. We being Christians had great opportunity to share our faith in Jesus Christ with them both. Jim knew how much the cross meant to me and he wove a beautiful cross for me out of shoe laces, I was so blessed to receive such a gift. The Cross of Christ means love and forgiveness to all who believe. Sue and Bud Prescott”
