He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Humenik and Frances Humenik (Tuley); and his sister Janet Williams. He is survived by: his wife Mary Jane; his daughter Lauren Humenik (Alexander Lombard); and his sister-in-law Shirley Swanson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Friday, March 28th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc. (895 NY-82, Hopewell Junction, NY 12533). A funeral Mass was held on Saturday, March 29th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Church (1925 NY-82, Lagrangeville, NY 12540).

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in James's name to the Parkinson's Foundation at http://www.parkinson.org.
