He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard D. Hess, Sr. and Marie Hess (Davey); his former wife Onalee M. Hess (Jacobs); and his siblings, Patricia Anderson (James), Daniel Hess (Joyce) and Diane Hess.
He is survived by: his wife Budena Hess of Knowlesville; his sons, Scott Hess (Sarah) of Albion, Thomas Hess (Cindy) of Brookfield and Richard Rick Hess, III (Brenda) of Albion; his stepdaughters, Samantha Waulk of Clymber, Amanda Blystone of Clymber, Tara Gentry (Jeremy) of Holley and Tiffany Marsh of Knowlesville; and his sister-in-law Belva Hess of Virginia Beach. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
