He was predeceased by: his parents, Machileo Forte and Lillian Forte (Turco); his children, Edward Forte and Teresa M. "Terri" Forte-Caballero; his grandson Anthony Sauro; and his brother Michael P. Forte.

He is survived by: his children, Marian Apprich of Vincentown, Joseph P. Forte (Mary), William J. J. Forte (Doris) of Kingston, Lawrence W. Forte of Kingston, Rose Forte-Piccoli (Frank) of Kingston and Col. Anthony K. Forte of North Carolina; his wife Carol A. Forte; and his sisters, Teresa DeBrosky and Angeline Nelson.

Expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers may be made in the form of contributions to to the American Legion Post 150 or the Ulster County SPCA.
