He was predeceased by: his parents, John F. Houghtaling and Grace Fairbrother Houghtaling. He is survived by: his daughters, Erika Senglaub (Matthew) of Canandaigua, NY and Heather Houghtaling of Kingston; and his grandchildren, Brittney, Justin, Conner O'Donoghue and Julia Geitner.
