She was predeceased by: her parents, Marian Farley Dempsey and Henry Dempsey; her spouse Orin Leslie May; her son Douglas May; and her siblings, Joan D. Hutton and Robert D. Dempsey.

She is survived by: her son James May; and her sisters, Karen Spadero and Cheryl Quinn. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and several cousins.
