She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, May Dennis and Rosie Powell (Burns); her husband Emory Bythewood; her partner Parra Martinez; her siblings, Renard Powell (Nancy) of Brockport, David Powell (Gloria), Lynn Powell (Ethel), Jane Moody of Kent, Mary Magalene Smith and Alice Powell of Brockport; and her sisters-in-law, Willie L. Cox of Florida, Lizzie of Florida and Mildred Thompson of Washington, DC.. She was also cherished by several nieces and nephews who she treated as her children.
