He was predeceased by: his parents, Woodrow Akers and Verlie Akers (Tackett); his grandson Brady Akers; and his brothers, Bobby, Billy and Rickie Akers.
He is survived by: his wife Catherine Akers (Jurs); his sons, Daniel Akers (Dana) and Keith Douglas Akers (Shannon); and his grandchildren, Theodore "Teddy" Akers, Makenna Morgan Akers, Grady Miles Akers and Claire Marie Akers.
