Peter J. Martinez Jr. Obituary
With heavy hearts, at the age of 70, we announce the death of Peter J. Martinez Jr. (Keeseville, New York), born in Manhattan, New York, who passed away on August 14, 2019. He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Pedro Juan Martinez and Esther Martinez (Rodriguez). He leaves behind his wife, Lorraine Valentino- Martinez, his father, Pedro Juan Martinez, daughter, Danielle Martinez, (son predeceased him, Thomas Charles Martinez), sisters Elizabeth Hittenmark-Martinez and Abigail Martinez and her spouse Dora L.Cardenas, M.D. and many nieces and nephews. Peter served in Vietnam from 1967 - 1969 with the United States Marine Corps being severely wounded in 1968 and spending a year in St.Albans Queens Naval hospital. He was honorably discharged as a Corporal. He subseqently worked as a manager for major supermarket chains in Long Island where he lived for over 35 years. He and his wife subsequently moved to the Adirondack region, where together they rescued hundreds of cats, 6 turkeys, 2 goats, 6 ducks, 1 goose and 40 chickens. They were farmers who loved their animals and truly loved each other. Peter's remains will be interred in Calverton National Cemetery.
