e wObituary for Robert "Bobby" Cucullo
Robert (Bobby) Cucullo, 61, of Katonah, New York, passed away suddenly February 10, 2020 in Oakland, California. He had a history of DVT since his late 20s, which ultimately took his life.
Bobby was a devoted father and husband, entrepreneur, teacher, coach, mentor and hobbyist. His true happy place was in the kitchen amongst his close family and friends. He was the ultimate host, known for his artful recipes and creative cooking style. He was also passionate about building renovations, and loved working on them with his father, Pat. Bobby’s talent for walking into a house, visually tearing down the walls, and recreating in his mind’s eye was exceptional. The family home was his castle, and he made each that he owned beautiful. His attention to detail was unmatched and enviable – it could be seen in everything he touched, from the crown moldings created by hand to his pristine pot collections (he used every single one). He also loved motorcycle trips with his friends, traveling the US and Europe with his girls, golf, tennis, English Premier League Soccer, reading, and of course, Harry Potter.
His career began in Construction Management until he and Debbie founded ChalkDust Consulting, a digital consulting firm in 2001. But his main focus was always his family, endlessly building an amazing life for them. He attended every activity, including countless soccer and lacrosse games, diving meets, tennis matches, dance and piano recitals, band and a cappella concerts— driving and flying all over the world in support of his children. He championed Debbie’s career and her passions with delight, excitement, and enthusiasm. Bobby’s greatest achievement was family; where his unwavering support was the force behind all their successes. Everyone would agree, once you were accepted into his inner circle, he would go to the ends of the earth for you.
He was born in The Bronx on February 16, 1958. He graduated from Mahopac High School and went on to earn a full scholarship to The Cooper Union. There, he studied Architecture for three and a half years until he switched gears; he graduated with a Bachelors of Engineering - Civil Engineering in 1985 to pursue his true passion of working and creating with his hands. Bobby married Debbie Kiederer on December 10, 1988 in Darien, Connecticut. The two had an incredibly loving, supportive, nurturing, and humor-filled partnership for 31 years, personified through their close friendships and in their uniquely tight-knit family unit.
Bobby is survived by wife, Debbie, children; Mika, Natasha, Kat, and Kitty (the dog). Father; Pat Cucullo and Margaret Pitz of Vero Beach, FL. Sister; Sherry Haaland and Chuck of Vero Beach, FL. Sister; Deidre Parker and Tricia of Vero Beach, FL, and Brother; Daniel Cucullo and Terry of Ludlow, VT. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 1 at Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts in Katonah, NY. Services entrusted to Chapel of the Chimes of Oakland.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Women’s Sports Foundation, to further Bobby’s legacy of supporting strong girls everywhere, and The Cooper Union Scholarship fund, to honor Bobby’s lifelong love of learning.
