He was predeceased by: his parents, Herschel Sr. Scism and Edna Scism (Siebe); and his sisters, Gladys Scism, Constance Oliver and Mary Ritter.
He is survived by: his children, Jamey Scism (Jessica), Shane Scism (Cielo) and Wendy; his siblings, Steven Guyette (Joyce), Sheila Frenyea (Russ), Virginia Calhoun (Jerry), Susan Savage (Ralph), Barbara Van Hoesen (Ken), Loretta Veeder-Bleyl (Clete) and Christine Van Hoesen (Jim); his brother-in-law Jay Ritter; and his grandchildren, Ashley, Jordan and Preston Scism. He is also survived by great grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
