He was predeceased by: his parents, Emil Schappert and Katherine Lyons Schappert; his wife Kathleen McCarthy Schappert; and his brothers, Emil, Leo, Donald and Raymond Schappert.
He is survived by: his sister Theresa Murphy; and his children, Ann Schappert Scalzo (Michael), Edward A. Schappert (Patricia), John Schappert (Angela) and Mary Catherine Schappert Dykeman (Bob). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
