He was predeceased by: his father Fred; his wife Shirley Nielsen Schmidt; and his son Maynard Schmidt. He is survived by: his children, Tammie Vargas (Wilson) of Kenoza, Amy Bernhardt (William) of Kenoza Lake, NY, Sandra Boyd (Craig) of Briscoe, NY, Fred Schmidt (Marlene) of Jeffersonville, NY and Crystal McFarland (Sean) of Maine; his daughter-in-law Heidi Schmidt of Jeffersonville, NY; and his sister Rose Stenros of Montana. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and 4 nephews.
