She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Washington and Alma Schwalm Hoffmann; and her former husband Ralph Borrello. She is survived by: her husband John M. "Jack" Costello; her children, Jean Kennedy (Tom), John Borrello (Mary), Karen Waldman (Adam) and Laurie Donovan (Shane); her brothers, Howard Hoffmann, Ken Hoffmann (Martha) and George Hoffmann; her sisters-in-law, Lorraine Hoffmann and Maryann Hoffmann; her grandchildren, Richard Albano, Alicia Conte (Pete), Theresa Fedyszyn (Kevin), Anthony Albano, Michael Borrello (Jenny), Steven Borrello (Alicia), Kimberly Martucci (Joe), Zack Waldman, Samantha Waldman, Justine Donovan, Liam Donovan and Mia Donovan; and her great grandchildren, Ava Conte, Aria Conte, Amelia Conte, Rosario Borrello, Asher Borrello and Kevin Fedyszyn.

Visitation was held on Saturday, November 16th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Harris Funeral Home - Liberty (115 West St, Liberty, NY 12754). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 16th 2024 at 2:30 PM at the same location. Doris had been a member of many organizations including, "JEM" Jeffersonville Enhances More of Sullivan County, Jeffersonville Lions Club, Jeffersonville Library, RSVP Senior Program, and the Heart-A-Thon.

Memorial contributions in Doris' name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to a charity of one's choice.

“I've known Doris since I was 18 years old. She struck me as a woman who loved and protected her family and those close to her. She had a great sense of humor that I enjoyed about her. One of my fondest memories of Doris, who is also Grandma to my and John's children, was when she made a dinosaur costume for Michael for Halloween, when he was 3 years old. It was the best costume ever! So impressed with her talent. I love you Doris and you will be missed. Thank you for loving me too.”
