He was predeceased by: his wife Margaret P. Smith; and his parent Irish. He is survived by: his children, Richard Smith, Vicki Watkins (George) and Scott Smith (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Jesse Watkins, Derek Watkins (Margaret), Jennifer Hodgeman (Erik), Lieutenant Colonel Rudy Smith (Myung Hee), Katelyn Smith, Allie Galvin (Will), Casey Smith and Max Smith; his great grandchildren, Alex, Grace Watkins, Brett, Marley Hodgeman, Fiona Smith, Lena Hippen, Avery Smith and Grayson Galvin; and his sister Rose Gray (Bob).
