He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Thorpe and Elizabeth Baker Thorpe; and his sisters, Pam Nordstrom and Cheryl Morrison. He is survived by: his children, Jennifer Thorpe of Jamestown and Michael Thorpe of South Carolina; his grandsons, Nathan Carlson and Miles Thorpe; and his siblings, Dick Thorpe (Sue), Skip Thorpe (Bonnie) and Lori Ginnetti. He is also survived by twenty nieces and nephews.
