He was predeceased by: his parents, Hammond Baer and Ellen Gilchrist Baer; his daughter-in-law Laurie Baer; his grandson Kevin White; and his brothers, John, William and Robert Baer.
He is survived by: his wife Joan Bamberg Baer; his children, Thomas H. Baer (Sally) of Jamestown, Elizabeth A. Swafford (Thomas) of Busti, Patricia J. White (Paul) of Westfield and Douglas W. Baer (Kelly Moon) of Busti; his grandchildren, Emily (Johannes Munter), Willson, Sharvan, Sophie Baer, Christina Martz (Paul), Matthew Swafford (Becky), David (Kim), Stephen White, Katherine, Lillian, Megan and Lukas; and also, Jeri Adams, Oliver Baer, Connor, Mackenzi, Addisyn Swafford, Miles, Evan Martz and Vera White.
