He was predeceased by: his parents, Frederick Mergenthaler and Grace Mergenthaler (Foster); his son Daniel Lee; his great grandchild Dani Paige Winsor; and his brothers, Michael and Fred.

He is survived by: his wife Roberta Mang (Robin); his children, David Mergenthaler Jr. (Colette) of Buffalo and Shelly Cole (Michael) of Ilion; his grandchildren, Kaylia Mergenthaler, Lesley Winsor (Kyle), Derek Mergenthaler, Michael Cole (Samantha), Megan Nasypany (Brett) and Marie Brewer (Josh); his great grandchildren, Dallas, Blair Cole, Skylar Mergenthaler, Leigha, Cole Nasypany, Raylee, Emma, Bo and Mia Brewer; his grandchildren, Lily, Harley and Oliver Winsor; his sister Lillian Oram (Cliff) of Ilion; and his sisters-in-law, Judy (Larry Sickler), Marietta Mergenthaler, JoAnne Mergenthaler and Kathy Schultz.

I remember the visit you all came to see us in West Virginia. The hamburgers I served you all . Always bringing a smile and laughter into the shop. Again,thank you for letting me know sorry for all of your loss.”
