He was predeceased by: his father Henry Herkel; and his stepfather John Willems. He is survived by: his grandfather Dan; his mother Marilyn Willems; his wife Carol Herkel; his children, DeAndra Macri (Nick Macri), Marcus Herkel (Courtney) of Herkimer and John Rigo of Herkimer; his grandchildren, Kaylee, Victor, Mia and Parker; and his brothers, Brian Herkel of Barneveld and Tim "Buddy" Herkel of Herkimer. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a stepsister.
