It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Carmella B. (Sweet) Walawender (Ilion, New York), born in Herkimer, New York, who passed away on September 21, 2023, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Joseph Saporito-Sweet and Philomena Saporito-Sweet (Petrolina); her husband Andrew Frank Walawender; her daughter Donna Warner; her siblings, Bill Saporito, Tony Saporito, Charles Sweet, Angelo Sweet, Michael Sweet, Nicholas Sweet, Joseph Sweet, Rosie Martin, Frances Bianco, Pearl Rulewicz and Josephine Tartaglia; and her parents-in-law, Judy Palumbo, Benny Walawender, Frances Ciano and Ted Walawender.
She is survived by: her children, Judy Walawender of Herkimer and Walter "Wally" (Dolores "Dee" Walawender) of Herkimer; and her son-in-law Harold Warner of Ilion. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
