He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Matheus and Florence Matheus (McCardle); and his sisters, Bonnie Poirier, Rosemary Bradford and Sharon Hoffman.
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Matheus (Kukuk) of Hurley; his children, Melinda Salinas (Anthony) of Saugerties and Scott Matheus (Julianna) of Weeki Wachee, FL; his grandchildren, Gabriel, Samantha, Rebecca, Cassandra, Ashley, Christopher, Lauren, Anya and Kalysta; his great grandchild Isabella; and his siblings, Patricia Houghtaling (Elting), Walter "Buddy" Matheus, Jr. (Brenda), Kevin Matheus (Cheryl) and Robert Matheus. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.
