He was predeceased by: his grandson Corey Phelan; his siblings, Alice Scaglione (Donald), Robert Phelan (Catherine), Edward Phelan and Maureen Phelan; and his brother-in-law John Corrigan (late Peggy).

He is survived by: his wife Eileen; his children, Chris Phelan (Christie) and Jeanine Phelan (Michelle); his grandchildren, Connor, Colin, Caleigh, Josh and Jack Lambert-Phelan; and his brother-in-law William Corrigan (Mary).
