He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Rosalie; his daughters, Erica Zimmer (Christopher) and Jessica Mileti (James); his grandsons, Dylan and Brett; and his sisters, Rosalie Rothwell (Robert) and Patricia Russo.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to: Hellping Hand Mission of Huntington Station or Habitat for Humanity in John's name would be greatly appreciated by the family.

“I’m very sorry to hear of Mr. Reyes passing. I had him as my Spanish2 teacher at Power Memorial, and remember him and his lessons fondly to this day. He taught us well, and was a funny, and a compassionate man. Listening to Brooklyn Irish American boys butcher his language could not have been easy . God Bless him , and all whose lives he touched.”
