He is survived by: his daughter Marguerite Newton (Bob) of Hudson Falls; his grandchildren, Sarah Newton (Josh Krywy), Robert Newton, Jr. (Maura) and Nathan Gilbert; his great grandchildren, Wyatt, Layne, Sylas and Josey; his son-in-law William Gilbert; his siblings, Larry Slater (Susan Sheldon), Gary Slater (Paulette), David Slater (Joanne), Tommy Slater (Sherry), Mary Mansur (Bolos) and Westol Slater; and his sister-in-law Connie Slater (late Rick Bello).
