He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Robert Reuel and Mary Viola Roth Hess; his spouse Lucy Mae Mears; his children, Beth Pocock (Richard) of Swannanoa, Bonnie Tamura (Timothy) of Tokorozawa, Becky Samuels (David) of Charlotte, Beverly Reddaway (Gary) of Pleasant Hill, Brenda Osterhus (Craig) of Lynchburg and Barbara Fraschetti (Christopher) of Houghton; and his siblings, Arlene Elkins of Kansas City, Bruce Hess of Houghton, Lois Yankowski of Apalachin, Victor Hess of Waxhaw and Philip Hess of Mankato.
