She was predeceased by: her parents, Truman Cole and Anna Cole (Russell); her husbands, David Hovey and Merlin Burns; and her siblings, Maynard Cole, Milton Cole, Mary Fuller and Ruth Graham.
She is survived by: her children, Steven Hovey (Linda) of Corning, NY, Michael Hovey of Addison, NY, Carolyn Sink (Jerry) of Seven Lakes, NC and Lucinda Whitney (David) of Bath, NY; her stepson Jerry Burns of Howard, NY; and her sisters, Anna Sherwood and Mildred Alexander. She is also survived by six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Velma's name may be made to St. Catherine's Church.
