We are sad to announce that on February 1, 2020, at the age of 94, Shirley N. Root (Horseheads, New York), born in Elmira, New York passed away. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Emmett Schoonover and Ruth Schoonover (Merrick); her husbands, Richard J. West and Cecil T. Root; her son David R. West; and her son-in-law Kenneth Matthews.
She is survived by: her children, Steven (Deborah West), Joseph (Karen West), Thomas (Linda Root), Bonnie Root Matthews of Bloomsburg, PA, Cathy Root-Wood of Wellsburg, Heather (Paul Hrynkiw) and Scott Root of Erin; and her daughter-in-law Nancy West of Painted Post. She is also survived by 30 grandchildren; 55 great grandchildren; 13 great, great grandchildren.
